My name is Blaine Anderson, and I've helped >7,000 happy matchmaking and coaching clients find love since starting Dating By Blaine in 2020.

I moved to NYC after college, and I'm lucky to have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and even on Shark Tank (Mark Cuban offered me a deal during Season 15 🦈)

Why NYC Is a Great (and Tricky) City for Dating

On paper, New York seems like an easy city to date in as a single man.

The city is a magnet for beautiful, motivated, and interesting single women.

But here's what I actually hear from single guys in New York City:

"Everyone is always chasing the next thing."

The paradox of choice is real in a city of 8 million people. There's always another option, which means many singles struggle to invest deeply in one person. This creates a disposable dating culture, and finding the right person becomes challenging.

"I don't want to be seen on dating apps."

If you work in tech, finance, law, media, or any high-profile industry in Manhattan, privacy matters. You don't want your employees, clients, or exes seeing your profile on Hinge or Raya.

"I work 60+ hours a week. I don't have time for this."

‍New York attracts people who are serious about their careers. It's great for work, and hard for dating (unless you have someone trustworthy to help with legwork!)

I know this because I've lived and dated in NYC.

How Matchmaking Works for NYC Clients

Hiring a professional matchmaker should feel straightforward. Here's exactly how the process works when you work with me & my team:

1. we get to know each other

We'll start with a conversation to understand your background, values, and the types of women you want to meet.

If I'm not confident that I can deliver matches you'll be excited about in NYC (or elsewhere, if you're casting a wider net) I'll tell you!

2. We decide to work together

My matchmaking engagements are typically structured as 6-month searches. During that timeframe, I'll guarantee ≥10x hand-picked introductions to women who meet your search criteria.

Each introduction is carefully curated. We're not randomly meeting women at Gospel and setting them up on dates with you!

3. We prepare you for dates

My NYC matchmaking clients all get professional styling and photos from the #1 local dating photographer (her name is Samantha and you won't find her anywhere online!) because you won't land the best matches if you don't look your best.

We may also scrub your online presence (e.g. Google, Instagram) before we start your search.

4. We find amazing women for you

This is where we're different from most matchmakers. We don't source dates from a picked-over database of women who may also be paying for matchmaking!

We find each match for you personally, by hand. My team screens and speaks with every potential match before proposing an introduction. A single introduction you receive might represent dozens of conversations we've had with different women on your behalf.

In NYC specifically, we source matches through:

Our personal networks. I left NYC for the suburbs, but my #1 matchmaker Brianna is still based the West Village, and we know a ton of beautiful single women around town.
Out and about. My team meets matches for our clients at Pilates By Steph, Meadow Lane, and everywhere else attractive women spend their time in New York City.
Social media. Being "Instagram famous" has its perks: attractive women actually respond to my DMs, including women who would likely ignore other matchmakers.

‍Fifth, you enjoy great dates.

By the time we share a match with you, she will have already learned about your background, and opted into meeting you for dinner or drinks.

How We Compare to Other NYC Matchmakers

New York is home to more professional matchmakers than any other city. Here's what makes us different:

We don't rely on a database.‍

Many established NYC matchmakers (including some of the most well-known names in the industry) match clients entirely from their existing databases of paying members.

That means your matches are limited to whoever else signed up. We find every match for you individually, from scratch.

We're proactive, not passive.

Many matchmakers wait for the right person to walk through their door. We go out and find her: on Instagram, at events, through our personal connections, and in the neighborhoods where the sexiest women actually spend their time.

We work exclusively with men.

Our clients are men. The women we introduce our male clients to aren't paying us, or (god forbid) getting paid.

We've found and vetted and gotten them excited to meet you because they're genuinely interested in finding the right long-term partnership. This eliminates the conflict of interest that comes with matchmakers who work with both sides.

Transparency on pricing.

Unlike many NYC matchmakers who make you sit through a Zoom consultation before sharing costs, I'm upfront.

How MucH Does Hiring A NYC Matchmaker Cost?

Unlike most professional matchmakers, I don't hide my prices. My matchmaking service starts at $25,000.

The specific investment amount depends on the complexity of your search, which boils down to:

How hard will it be for us to find who you're seeking?
Once we've found her, will she want to meet you?

New York is my team's strongest geography for matchmaking. The city's density and the sheer number of exceptional single women here means we can typically source higher-quality matches, faster, than in any other city.

That said, if you have highly specific criteria or you want to date across multiple cities (NYC + Miami, or NYC + LA, for example), that can affect your search scope and cost.

How is a professional matchmaker different from using dating apps in NYC?

Dating apps nominally give you access to a large pool of attractive women, but the burden of actually matching with anyone (let alone going on a date) is enormous, and entirely on you.

If you've ever looked at the "Standouts" section on Hinge, or opened up Raya anywhere in Manhattan, you know what I mean.

A professional matchmaker handles all of that. We identify, screen, and personally speak with every woman before proposing an introduction.

You skip the swiping, and go straight to high-quality dates in New York with amazing women who've already opted into meeting you!

Where do you find matches for your NYC matchmaking clients?

We source matches through our personal networks in New York (my partner Brianna and I have spent well over a decade in NYC!) by connecting with women at local venues and events (e.g. exercise studios like Reforming Pilates), and through social media (primarily Instagram and LinkedIn).

Unlike other matchmaking services, we don't rely on a database. We find every match specifically for you.

I have a public career, and privacy is important. How discreet is this?

Very. We understand that many of our NYC clients work in high-profile roles, and don't want their dating lives becoming public.

We don't share your information publicly, and any woman we reach out to on your behalf only learns about your background once she's been vetted for compatibility with your criteria.

There are no public profiles, no apps, and no chance of running into colleagues on a platform.

Do I have to live in NYC to work with you?

No. We work with clients across the U.S. and internationally! If you're based in New York City but open to meeting women in other cities (e.g. Miami, or San Francisco) we can expand your search accordingly.

We also work with clients who are relocating to NYC and want to start meeting women before they arrive.

Can I date in multiple cities?

Absolutely. Many of our clients date in more than one city.

Let's say you travel frequently between New York and Los Angeles for your business. We can easily line up matches for you in both cities.

What matters is that you're 100% comfortable traveling for dates, or willing to take first dates via FaceTime.

What if I have very specific criteria for who I want to meet?

We're always open to discussing complex searches. We'll also be honest upfront if we don't think we can find who you're looking for.

NYC has a massive dating pool, but if you have ultra-narrow criteria (e.g. "Princeton alum, red hair, 25-28, between 5'6 and 5'9, vegetarian...") that can make your search much harder.

We can talk through what's realistic 1x1.

How long does it take to find a match in NYC?

Most of our matchmaking engagements are structured as 6-month searches, where we agree to deliver a minimum of 10 hand-picked introductions.

Some NYC clients meet their person within the first few introductions; others take longer. The timeline depends on your criteria, availability for dates, and of course a bit of luck!
